The Adria region and the Balkan countries have a long-standing and often underrepresented fencing tradition. Across this region, fencing has been shaped by strong club systems, dedicated coaches, and generations of athletes competing at a high international level. Fencers from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Greece have reached World Championships, European Championships, and Olympic Games, particularly in foil and épée, as well as sabre.

Historical examples underline this legacy. As early as the turn of the 20th century, Croatian fencer Milan Neralić achieved international recognition by winning a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Olympic Games, marking one of the first Olympic fencing successes from the region. In later decades, athletes from Serbia and Slovenia continued to represent the Balkans on the world stage, competing in World Cup events, European Championships, and World Championships, keeping the region firmly present in international fencing.

We aim to serve and connect fencers across the Adria region and the wider Balkans, while remaining fully aligned with international standards.
